On our everlasting hunt for a good lunch special, we recently went to Toshi Sushi. The restaurant seems to be family-owned and has the cutest sushi chef. Service was friendly and appeared to be a place locals frequent.
The Toshi Lunch Special
The day we went in, there were two lunch specials available: the Omakase lunch special for $64 and the Makunouchi lunch special for $26. I went for the Makunouchi which had tempura, chawanmushi, nigiri, and kaarage. You also get side dishes of squid, tamago, and scallops with crab. The meal also comes with miso soup and a green salad. Hubs ordered the Special Chirashi bowl (which was not on the special menu for lunch).

We’re spoiled when it comes to sushi because one of our neighbors is a sushi chef and we get incredible fresh fish from him. Toshi is great if you’re craving a bento situation, like what I ordered. I liked having a variety.
After lunch we went to try Kansha Creamery for the first time, which is basically just down Western from Toshi, an easy 2-stop trip.
Kansha Creamery

We got a two-scoop cup to share and chose Aoi Matcha and White Sesame. I know this is a bold statement, but I honestly felt this was the best ice cream I’ve had in my life. I can’t think of anywhere that can compare, I’m in my 30s and I’ve been to many an ice cream shop. The flavors are distinct, the ice cream is creamy but not too buttery or rich. I need to go back for their famous Mr. Universal flavor.
